HEY! I’M ANYA.
Former midwife. Current baby lover. Authentic storyteller. I’m a mama to five, certified birth and bereavement doula, and professional photographer, in the Madison, Wisconsin area. Passionate About: helping mamas have the best birth experience possible, traveling the globe obsessively (especially with my kids!), sharing my story as a widow so others don’t feel so alone, raising my children to be amazing global citizens, reading until the wee hours of the morning on my Kindle, and eating chips in bed while binge watching Netflix.
As a former midwife and lover of all things baby, I have been a professional photographer for over 10 years, capturing the tender beauty of births, newborns, children, life and love. My goal as your photographer is to create images that speak to you, pull at you, and evoke connection & emotion within.
Why do I do this?
Besides loving babies, I have a strong passion for documenting real & raw moments in people’s lives. Moments we can’t get back. As a widow, I know first hand that besides our memories, images are sometimes all we have left. I want my clients to look back on their photos and see all the love, forgetting the day-to-day, and remember what’s most important – love and family.
REAL.RAW.INTIMATE.TIMELESS.
These are just a few words my closest clients have used to describe me and my work. Images that capture authentic moments are what I love the most. No posing intended. I feel the best and most powerful images come when you are natural, free and living in the moment.
In addition to client work, I am also honored to serve our community by volunteering as a bereavement and end of life photographer for the newly born, and very young babies through an amazing organization called Now I Lay Me Down To Sleep. Giving back to families is the heart & soul of who I am as a person. I am also a member of Professional Photographers of America, International Association of Professional Birth Photographers, and my work has been featured on Huffington Post, Bored Panda, Rock Star Birth Magazine, and Birth Becomes Her.
